Draggingtree
RedState: Forget the Senate, Tim: instead, challenge Boehner for Speaker By: gawken (Diary) | December 7th, 2012 at 10:34 AM Conservatives need to regain the initiative within the GOP. In just the last few days, we’ve seen Boehner offer up $800 billion in new revenues, when not ONE GOP congressman ran last month endorsing higher taxes. All we heard from Republicans during the campaign was, correctly, the mantra that “We don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem.” So, what does Boehner do? Propose more revenue, and without ANY concrete agreement on spending cuts. And then, he whacks four fiscal conservatives from key committee assignments, attempting to instill fear in the rest of the caucus, because ANY spending increase will NOT pass the House with only GOP votes; a substantial number of Democrats would have to go along. And the Speaker probably couldn’t survive that. It’s time for conservatives to mount a bold, decisive stroke. And what better way than for Tim Scott to challenge Boehner in the caucus. Scott has already opposed leadership several times in the past on key bills, notable the debt ceiling increase.
