Several pro-Tea Party Congressmen have found themselves purged from committee assignments by the GOP leadership.

On Monday, Arizona Republican David Schweikert was removed from the House Financial Services Committee while Kansas Republican Tim Huelskamp and Michigan Republican Justin Amash were removed from the House Budget Committee.

This certainly doesn't inspire confidence. If Boehner and Cantor see fit to exile pro-Tea Party Congressmen then is it any wonder why the Obama Administration feels emboldened enough to demand complete and unconditional surrender from the House GOP?

Never fear I am sure the Washington Post/NY Times will hail this as a sign of the end of this age of hyper partisanship.

Tim Huelskamp strikes back

I am Thankful for John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy

Not quite two weeks removed from Thanksgiving, it is worth giving thanks to John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy. I really am thankful for them.

Congressmen Schweikert, Amash, and Congressman Tim Huelskamp now removed from the Budget Committee, have been punished for daring to defy John Boehner during the debt ceiling fight, etc. They pointed out what would happen with John Boehner’s deal. They were the Cassandras of the fiscal cliff, predicting we’d be exactly where we are and they voted against getting us here.

In the meantime, Freedomworks, Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth, Heritage Action for America, Madison Project, Concerned Women of America, Susan B. Anthony, Gun Owners of America, etc. etc. etc. must start working hard immediately to find quality candidates to challenge incumbent Republicans. These three men and Karl Rove over at Crossroads are going to work hard to stop conservatives though.

Conservatives must seek retribution or become the paper tiger John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy just declared them to be.

Conservatives bite back at House GOP leadership over purge

Rachel Weiner

December 5, 2012

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) took a public shot at House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) Tuesday night, in the wake of a shake-up that knocked a small group of conservatives off prominent committees.

Justin Amash ‏@repjustinamash

Still waiting for call from GOP leadership. Are they too embarrassed to explain they booted me for working to reduce debt?

Amash, a libertarian-leaning conservative, was taken off the Budget Committee. Tea party-backed Rep. Tim Huelskamp (Kan.) was taken off Budget and Agriculture. Reps. Walter Jones (N.C.), a rare moderate, and David Schweikert (Ariz.) lost their spots on the Financial Services Committee. Amash, Huelskamp and Schweikert were all first elected in the 2010 Republican wave.

Conservative groups have defended the lawmakers and scolded Boehner.

“This is establishment thinking, circling the wagons around yes-men and punishing anyone that dares to take a stand for good public policy,” FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe said in a statement. The group urged activists to call Boehner and demand he restore the lawmakers to their committee spots.

Call Members of the Steering Committee Now

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | December 10th, 2012 at 11:31 PM

The purge of conservatives from key committees last week was not a natural disaster. It was perpetrated by leadership with the help of the rest of the 31 members on the Steering Committee. They all need to hear from us.

Let’s take a step back and analyze what occurred last week. It is not a normal occurrence for incumbent members in good standing to be thrown off their committees without warning. It’s certainly not normal for a top finance expert (David Schweikert) to be thrown off the Financial Services Committee or a top agriculture expert from a major farming district (Tim Huelskamp) to be tossed from the Agriculture Committee.

With that said, Scissors-32x32.png http://www.redstate.com/2012/12/10/call-members-of-the-steering-committee-now/
