At first glance it appears to be a sleek Horn of Africa news site. But in fact the site is run by the U.S. military as part of a propaganda operation aimed at countering extremists in Africa. Draggingtree Posted November 13, 2012 Author Share Posted November 13, 2012 4-star who headed AFRICOM demoted AP and staff reports Posted : Tuesday Nov 13, 2012 12:13:04 EST A senior U.S. official says Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has demoted the former head of U.S. Africa Command who was accused of spending thousands of dollars on lavish travel and other unauthorized expenses, The Associated Press reports. The official says Panetta stripped Gen. William “Kip” Ward of a star, which means that he will now retire as a three-star lieutenant general despite some arguments against the demotion.
