Valin
Legal Insurrection : Anne Sorock 11/12/12 Teachers filled the ranks at the 2012 Midwest Marxism Conference, which was held Saturday at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism The event kicked off with Becca Barnes’s keynote speech. Barnes, a Chicago teacher, spoke about the new era of Marxism in America stemming from the Chicago Socialists’ recent successes in running the show during the Chicago Teachers Strike. Said Barnes, who referred to everyday American capitalists as “capitalist vampires,” “the struggle here in the United States has entered a new phase. Nowhere have we pointed the way forward more clearly than here in Chicago with the teachers union strike.” From her talk and other succeeding events throughout the day, it was clear that the Teachers Union and Marxists were one and the same. (Snip) Thankfully, after hours of enduring non-discussion and hate speech against Americans (and being amongst those celebrating a philosophy of mass murderers), I was “outed” as not a communist, told I was “not in solidarity” and surrounded by members of the Chicago Socialists who told me to leave the Northwestern School of Journalism premises. Also “spotted” as not in solidarity was Rebel Pundit, who had a more interesting exit than I: (Snip)
pollyannaish
That is really frightening. It's amazing to me how asleep we have been. I think that we need to fight this on the grassroots level before we worry about the president though. Let's target teacher's unions. I swear, unless someone belongs to a union, it's hard to explain just how oppressive they are.

Most of the worlds Communists...I mean Marxists...I mean Progressives, can be found in schools (particularly college campuses) today.

Most of the worlds Communists...I mean Marxists...I mean Progressives, can be found in schools (particularly college campuses) today. Oh boy do I know that. When I was teaching Faculty seminars were hell. I sat there and listened to my peers ridicule me and my husband's values. And this was on a church affiliated campus. It was appalling. Our best college friends have been in education for 25 years. I've watched them become more and more leftist over the years. We just don't talk politics anymore because it won't make any difference, but I'm sure we are both disappointed in each other. It makes me so very sad. Here's today's Ray Of Hope...A good friend of mine finally got his PHD. The good news is his adviser has come over to the Dark Side. So there is hope. And we need to keep at it in ALL schools. (And we need to revise or break teacher's unions. I know that is heretical, but I'm not kidding.) Rokke
Some news that isn't bad. I'm in a union. 10 years ago, if you didn't join, your life was made hell. On a two week road trip around the world, you do not want to be shunned by your peers everywhere you go. Pilots would travel with lists of non-members and follow them into restaurants and bars to ensure no one was hanging out with them. But that was ten years ago. Now, people just don't really care. Pilots openly ridicule our union. The allegiance is turning more toward the company. People realize who provides their paycheck, and who takes money out of their paycheck. Non-members are at worst simply ignored, but only rarely. Most guys simply don't care. Granted, the pilot community tends to be more conservative, but the tide has definitely turned. I know that all union membership is way down. Teachers can't be that far behind.
