Draggingtree
Wizbang: Newsweek: Hey, Whities, You’re Old, You’re White And You’re Finished November 10, 2012 | Filed under 2012 Presidential Race,Barack Obama, corruption,Culture Of Corruption,Democrats,Elections,Liberals,Media,Race | Posted by Warner Todd Huston Nov. 2012 Newsweek Cover You can add this Obama-as-George Washington image to the many other Old Media claims that Obama is somehow just like some of our most revered Presidents. We’ve been told he’s somehow “just like” Lincoln, John Kennedy, and Franklin Roosevelt. Of course, he’s closer to Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter, but, well, you know. You might recall that Newsweek is soon to stop printing its hard copy, Your days are done, white man. In its November issue, Newsweek and writer David Frum want you GOP whities to know that you’re old, you’re white, and you’re finished. Not only does Newsweek want white Republicans to know their salad days are over (and that they are racist, no doubt), but the aging magazine has done so with a cover illustration that portrays Obama wearing the uniform tunic of a Revolutionary War soldier — maybe even with allusions to founding father and first general of the armies George Washington
Rokke
The wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz leaps to mind as she melts away. See ya Newsweek. We knew you too well.
Allegra
Newsweek going out like a five-year-old getting that last retort in. Along the lines of "I know you are, but what am I?"
nickydog
Saw this on Drudge just before I went to bed. Woke up an hour after I went to sleep and eventually had to turn on the light and read for an hour. So stupid Newsweek's last retort worked its magic on me even as I knew that was exactly what they wanted to do.
Argyle58
Well, if they were shooting for Geo. Washington's uniform, they missed the boat. The Newsweek cover DOES depict him The "o" in a Major General's uniform. While Washington did hold that rank during the Revolutionary War, as Commander in Chief he never wore that uniform. After the war he was elevated to the rank of Lt. General, a different uniform all together.

Draggingtree
11/08/2012 08.11.2012 The World from Berlin 'Obama Is Not a Messiah Anymore' Most Germans are relieved that US President Barack Obama has been re-elected. But lacking the same level of support at home, he has a tough road ahead, the country's media commentators say on Thursday. They urge Obama to exhibit strong leadership both domestically and abroad. The re-election of US President Barack Obama was widely reported Thursday in Germany under the headline "A Second Chance." That second chance, according to German commentators, would include the opportunity for Obama, without the fear of another re-election campaign, to take a stronger leadership role at home and abroad. The left-leaning Berliner Zeitung writes: "Obama has been re-elected, and the problems haven't gotten much smaller. He is leading a heavily indebted nation, which is ailing in many ways. The Republicans are still in control in the House and the simmering Middle East is in desperate need of a peace strategy, which can only be developed with the help of the United States. The world is waiting for the Barack Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, to earn his medal." "These are not tasks for the timid. And though Obama will enter his second term in office with less euphoria than he did four years ago, he will bring with him a greater sense of realism and more self-confidence." The conservative daily Die Welt addresses the state of the Republican party after its loss: "Going moderate, adapting, or even pandering to Obama? The battle for the soul of the Republican Party won't be conducted in such a European fashion. Unlike the way things would play out in Germany, nobody can impose marching orders on the party's different factions. … The impression that a Republican blockade in Congress could threaten the party's chances in the 2016 election is indeed likely to be some cause for thought. But for many conservatives out there in the vast country, blocking projects that they believe betray the legacy of America is an honorable goal." "Still, it will be a huge feat for Mitt Romney's successors to keep the party from disintegrating into snip -- Mary Beth Warner and Kristen Allen http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/german-media-commentary-on-obama-re-election-a-866063.html
