A government official in Burma says President Barack Obama will visit the Southeast Asian country later this month.

It would be the first-ever visit to Burma by an American president.

The official speaking from the capital Naypyitaw said Thursday that security for a visit on Nov. 18 or 19 have been prepared but the schedule is not final. He asked not to be named because he is not authorized to give information to the press.Scissors-32x32.png

Never heard of the name of the capital of Burma, much less pronounce it. It has to be an important place to visit right now. Besides, isn't it Myanmar now?

Foreigh travel as U.S. president is pleasant. You get to fly in AF One, you get to look important as you view the troops, enjoy a State dinner and appear in the news. It's all FLUFF! Burma/Myanmar? For crying out loud.

I wonder if we still have an embargo on Burmese Rubies that was started during Bush 43 because of the human rights abuses in that country?
