Combe Special to The Daily News Published August 22, 2012 In 2011, I was pleased to work on behalf of the Texas School Nurses Organization along with advocacy groups, including The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network and The Food Allergy Initiative, to advocate for legislation that resulted in the recently released Texas Guidelines for the Care of Students with Food Allergies At Risk for Anaphylaxis. Under the law, every school district in the state had to create its own food allergy management policy by Aug. 1 in preparation for the 2012-13 school year, with the district policy based on the guidelines.
