Charles Darwin left behind a legacy of pain, discrimination and the mass murder of millions. Yet, across the globe there were celebrations on November 24, 2009 of the 150th anniversary of the release of his book, On the Origin of Species, which introduced his theory of evolution. In its wake, Darwin’s book, printed in 1859, both accelerated and created chasms of class and racial divides that continue to exist in a 21st century world.

Spawned from his theory of evolution were the concepts of natural selection and survival of the fittest that replaced God as Creator of humankind and the universe. The elimination of God and the devaluing of people of color did not originate from scientific evidence, but from the personal assessment of Darwin, an 1850′s naturalist, who appeared anxious to please his domineering, anti- Christian father and a contingent of racist and atheist friends. read more
