Valin
The Hill: Brendan Sasso 06/19/12 The House Energy and Commerce Committee is poised to approve a *resolution that would urge the administration to fight against efforts for the United Nations to regulate the Internet. Lawmakers delivered their opening statements on Tuesday afternoon, unanimously praising the resolution. The measure is co-sponsored by 49 of the 54 members of the committee. (Snip) The proposals, backed by China, Russia and other U.N. members, would give the international body more control over cybersecurity, data privacy, technical standards and the Web’s address system. They would also allow foreign, government-owned Internet providers to charge extra for international traffic and allow for more price controls. (Snip) _________________________________________________________________________ It needs to be noted the International Telecommunications Union informs us there is nothing to worry about. And they would never lie about this...just ask them. *Non Binding
