Draggingtree Posted June 2, 2012 Share Posted June 2, 2012 The Sun: Brit hostage rescued by UK 'SAS' in daring dawn raid By NEIL MILLARD Published: Today at 10:50 A KIDNAPPED British aid worker was dramatically freed by UK special forces in Afghanistan today in a daring raid branded “extraordinarily brave, breath-taking” by the PM. David Cameron personally authorised the operation to liberate Helen Johnston from a CAVE yesterday afternoon over rising fears for her safety. A number of British SAS troops were reportedly involved in the op which meant covering large distances while avoiding detection. Helen, 28, was freed alongside three other hostages in an early morning mission after being snatched on May 22. Mr Cameron confirmed all four hostages – including Kenyan Moragwe Oirer and two Afghan civilians – were safe. In a statement, Ms Johnston's family said: "We are delighted and hugely relieved by the wonderful news that Helen and all her colleagues have been freed.
