Valin
The Huffington Post UK: Ted Thornhill 5/16/12 Humans will need two Earths to support our lifestyles by 2030 because we are draining the world’s resources so quickly, a new report has warned. Produced by the World Wildlife Fund, the Zoological Society of London, the Global Footprint Network and the European Space Agency, the 2012 Living Planet Report measures humans’ ecological footprint on the planet. At the moment, the picture is bleak, according to Jim Leape, Director General of WWF International, with resources being drained 50 per cent faster than they can be replenished. clearvision
I think we would run out raw materials for solar panels and wind mills before we run out of fossil fuels at the rate we keep finding new resources... All currently manufactured thin-film PV solar cells rely on either rare earth elements (such as Indium or Tellurium). These elements have very finite quantities globally and are often situated in only a few locations with exports strictly controlled by those countries. I find it hard to believe that you've forgotten Pixy Dust. It's a well known fact that Pixy Dust is a viable replacement for these rare earth elements, and is in plentiful supply. clearvision
@Valin What you think manufacturing Pixy Dust does not eat up resources? It also costs a fortune to pay those laborers who manufacturer and distribute it.
clearvision
WWF must be heavily invested in the Renewable Energy Index ("top" 30 renewable energy companies). Down 80% since 2008. Hat Tip to wattsupwiththat.com for the chart:
Valin
@Valin What you think manufacturing Pixy Dust does not eat up resources? It also costs a fortune to pay those laborers who manufacturer and distribute it. The major advantage of Pixy Dust is that it costs nothing to produce. All that is required is for PDT's (Pixy Dust Technicians) to wish for it really really hard. I am informed that the Sierra Club is hard at work day and night training PDT's at their Institute for Wishful Thinking in Marin County. Before you ask how is this being funded, three words..Magical Money Tree.
