Valin
The Hill: Pete Kasperowicz 05/08/12 The House on Tuesday afternoon voted to cut $1 million from the Department of Justice in a 2013 appropriations bill in retaliation for Justice's failure to respond to Republican questions about the origins of the "Fast and Furious" gun-walking operation that led to the death of a U.S. border patrol agent. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) offered the amendment to the appropriations bill for the Departments of Commerce, Justice and other agencies. It was approved in a voice vote after a brief debate in which Gowdy slammed Justice for failing to answer questions about the operation. "It did not have to come to this," Gowdy said on the House floor. "But there are basic questions the public and Congress have a right to have answered. Such as, who in the Department of Justice approved the tactic of gun-walking?" (Snip)
