W.H. Announces Federal Taxpayer Receipt, Complains Rich Don't Pay Enough

The White House sent out an email earlier today reminding folks that "President Obama created the Federal Taxpayer Receipt." (Previously, the White House promoted this very thing last year.)

"Want to compare how much of your contribution in taxes goes towards education, foreign aid, or veteran's benefits?" the email rhetorically asks. "Just enter a few pieces of information about your taxes, and the taxpayer receipt will give you a customized breakdown. You'll see exactly how your money gets spent on health care or national defense or the environment."

 

But the White House didn't just use the email to inform folks about the receipt; it also wanted to demagogue rich people. "For many millionaires, however, Tax Day isn't looming. In 2009, 1,470 people who made more than $1 million paid $0 in federal income tax," said the email, without citing any source to back up this data point. read more
