Draggingtree
Harris County Republican Party: Thursday, April 19: 2012 Radio Host Terminated for Conservative Views After promising Houstonians 100% News, 0% Spin, the new FM news station last week chose to fire one of the most even-handed journalists in Texas: Scott Braddock. No explanation was offered for the firing, but we have learned Ed Shane, the acting program director at News 92 FM, often tried to micro-manage Scott's coverage. Here are some examples: Shane said Scott's frequent coverage of immigration and border issues was "pandering to the Tea Party." Shane suggested Scott give extra time to liberal voices when Governor Perry was running for president. Shane said that an interview Scott did with Harris County GOP Chairman Jared Woodfill about President Obama's visit to Houston was unnecessary because "we all know what Woodfill's going to say." It's clear that Mr. Shane thinks he knows better than an award-winning journalist how to cover Texas politics. If you disagree with him and think Scott Braddock should be allowed to offer fair and balanced coverage, contact him and News 92 FM's manager, Doug Abernethy:
Rokke
This kind of action backfires bigtime on the idiots who practice it. The free market is the best gauge for what should or shouldn't be available to the American public. If it requires a subsidy to survive, it isn't viable or truly useful. Mr. Shane will eventually be out of business. Mr. Braddock will no doubt find employment somewhere else. The sooner the better.
