Valin Posted March 9, 2012 Share Posted March 9, 2012 LA Times: 3/8/12 A UNESCO commission Thursday condemned the violence against civilians in Syria but did not remove the embattled nation from its human rights committee, as the U.S. and other nations had hoped. The United States and other countries want Syria removed from the group's Committee on Conventions and Recommendations, which handles human rights issues, because of the crackdown by forces loyal to President Bashar Assad during the yearlong uprising against his government.
