Help Place E-Verify, Immigration Status Check Measures on the Houston Ballot

This is a special message for NumbersUSA members in the Houston, Texas area.

 

Dear Texas activist,

 

A group called Stop The Magnet is seeking to place two citizens initiatives on the Nov. 2012 City of Houston ballot that would mandate E-Verify workplace eligibility checks for city contractors and require police, after a lawful stop and when practicable, to check the immigration status of persons suspected to be illegally present.

 

To get on the ballot, each initiative needs the signatures of 20,000 City of Houston registered voters. A higher number must be submitted, however, because some signatures are inevitably ruled invalid.

 

Please consider helping by signing a petition and volunteering to collect more. If you do not live in the City, you can still help by volunteering your time.

 

The groups is running a “30 & 3” volunteer program that asks each volunteer to locate 30 City of Houston signers and donate 3 hours at the polls on election day or early vote during the primaries.

It's super easy to use. We had to use it in my last position. I am not sure, but technically most insurance and perhaps even Medicare/Medicaid require you to use it in your office if you receive compensation from them.
