Gospels Contradict Obama's Idea Of A Socialist Jesus

obama-claims-jesus-endorses-his-economic-program.htmInvestors Business Daily:

Church And State: President Obama has taken a very powerful name in vain in defense of his class warfare economic policies. In fact, Obama encourages a sin Jesus Christ repeatedly admonished: envy.

Attending the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, President Obama declared that raising tax rates on higher incomes "coincides with Jesus' teaching that 'for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.'"

It is disgraceful enough for a president to use a religious event to push an economic agenda that has already insured his place in history as the food stamp president.

But Obama began his remarks by claiming there was nothing political in what he would be saying.

He was there, he said, so that he and the attendees could "come together as brothers and sisters and seek God's face together."

After getting "caught up in the noise and rancor that too often passes as politics today, these moments of prayer slow us down. They humble us," the president said, adding that "we can all benefit from turning to our Creator, listening to Him, avoiding phony religiosity, listening to Him."

This from a president who has conspicuously neglected attending religious services during his time in office — until recently, that is, with his re-election campaign revving up.

It looks to be a cynical manipulation of those who hold deep religious beliefs, little more.

What kind of hubris do you have to have to think that you can fool people who have a personal relationship with God?

You can fool people who claim to be religious but aren't...just like him. But you simply alienate real believers who know what is there. It's like me going around trying to pretend to be an electrician or long haul trucker.

@Geee

I was forced to listen to NPR today and they had some sound clips, all gag worthy, from the most imperfect vessel of all:

"And it's a chance to step back for a moment, for us to come together as brothers and sisters and seek God's face together. At a time when it's easy to lose ourselves in the rush and clamor of our own lives, or get caught up in the noise and rancor that too often passes as politics today, these moments of prayer slow us down. They humble us. They remind us that no matter how much responsibility we have, how fancy our titles, how much power we think we hold, we are imperfect vessels. We can all benefit from turning to our Creator, listening to Him. Avoiding phony religiosity, listening to Him."

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on Thursday evening said President Obama needs a reminder that he is not Jesus Christ.

"In 2008, the president declared that his nomination was the world historical moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal," Hatch said in a speech from the Senate floor.

"Someone needs to remind the president that there was only one person who walked on water and he did not occupy the Oval Office."

“For me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’s teaching that 'for unto to whom much is given, much shall be required,'" Obama said at the breakfast.

Hatch, who is a devout Mormon, suggested Obama was trying to "assume the role of theologian in chief" and said he ought to stick to public policy.

"[Obama] suggested to the attendees that Jesus would have supported his latest tax-the-rich schemes," Hatch said. "With due respect to the president, he ought to stick to public policy. I think most Americans would agree that the gospels are concerned with weightier matters than effective tax rates.”

Hatch said Obama does not even live up to the example set by two former presidents he claims to admire, Franklin Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

"At some moments in our nation's history, at moments of crises, leaders have emerged, put partisanship aside and worked to solve our greatest challenges, though our current president, who's compared himself to both Franklin Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, his leadership is falling well short of their examples," Hatch said.

That is not who he is addressing. He has pretty much written us off.

@Valin. Then why bother? It seems to me that if he has written off people of faith, why even expend the energy to go through the motions? What's his motivation for pretending?

Black Christians that have moved away from him & are looking for any justification to go back?

I have to believe that he considers himself on equal footing with our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ......and if he can keep that picture in front of the public until election time [w/o being struck by lightening] he can finesse enough votes to complete his fundamental change.

Was it Flip Wilson who used to say,"God is gonna get ya?"

Because it looks good, and it inoculates him from the Obama is a *Muslim attack, and many people don't really study scripture, so this sounds like scripture validates his big government message.

* I don't believe he is a Muslim, he is a liberal christian.

That makes sense. The only place I disagree is that I think he is a humanist, agnostic and marxist. I think socially he is a Christian to build connections to power bases, but that's it.

You just gave a good definition of a liberal christian.

Ha! @Valin. Touche.

For the record, I make no comment if they are Saved or not. That's handled in a different Dept....and at a much higher level

A big amen to that.
