PBS documentary looks at Bill Clinton's career

Although Bill Clinton’s reputation as a statesman has long since recovered in most quarters following personal scandals in the 1990s, a new, four-hour documentary portrays the arc of his career as one littered with sexual dalliances and foibles.

That’s doubly surprising when you consider the source: Not a conservative production company, but PBS.

The film covers Clinton’s life in its entirety — from his childhood in Arkansas to his first runs for office to his election as governor of Arkansas to his presidency — but almost a full hour of the documentary ends up focusing on Clinton’s personal struggles with fidelity, coupled with harsh, blunt language from many of his colleagues and chroniclers. (In fact, the film’s introduction, a quick summary of the entire documentary, opens with the Monica Lewinsky scandal).

Eight minutes in, the topic of Gennifer Flowers surfaces.

So Monica Lewinsky is reportedly peddling a memoir about her White House career, promising tawdry details that did not appear in “Monica’s Story,” the 1999 authorized biography authored by Andrew Morton.

 

As reported by the New York Post, the tell-all will describe Bill Clinton’s purported “penchant for kinky sex.”

 

Which means Lewinsky, 39, is prepared to talk about tossing the 42nd president’s salad.

I have always felt very sorry for this naive girl. She was trampled and used in a way that is immoral and inhumane. The power imbalance is exactly what feminists scream about when it comes to non liberal men. And yet those same women were the most vile, full of hatred and righteousness. The right used her to mock the president and the left mocked her to sage the president. But no one bothered to rink about her, and the repercussions. Yes she was clearly an adult who made foolish and reckless decisions. That is hard enough to recover from without the whole country staring at the big red A on your chest. Honestly, I would suspect she is just trying to make a living. From what I've read she is broke and companies are not willing to hire her because her situation makes her distracting.

If it sounds like I don't have a lot of sympathy for her...I guess I don't. Other people have it a lot worse.
