Sydney Morning Herald:

Bangkok: NEARLY four decades after the declaration of Year Zero, time finally caught up this week with three elderly survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime that brought the killing fields to Cambodia.

Their smiles were at odds with the evidence as prosecutors detailed to a court in Phnom Penh a ''system of brutality that defies belief to the present day''.

It was on April 17, 1975, that the Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot declared Year Zero and began his quest to turn Cambodia into an agrarian utopia.

Thanks, Valin!

I remember the killing fields, shown after their discovery.....and the warehouses of skulls, retained as evidence. I doubt anything sanctioned by the UN coming to fruition; but this is one area of International Justice that should prevail.
