FOX News:

Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy has declared Thursday “Diaper Need Awareness Day” as part of a campaign by The Nutmeg State to pressure Washington into providing free diapers to low-income families.

Supporters will host a fundraiser and a panel discussion in New Haven on the public health risks for babies whose diapers aren't changed frequently enough.

The move follows legislation introduced earlier this month by Rep. Rosa DeLauro that would amend the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990. The act provides funding to help low-income mothers pay for day care services. The update would allow Uncle Sam to also provide funding for diapers and diaper supplies.

DeLauro, a Connecticut Democrat, estimates that families pay about $100 a month to cover babies' bottoms. :snip:

Ah...Um...Now I grant you, I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree, and thia may seem like crazy talk, but if Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy thinks that government should give diapers to poor people, why not get together with the Conn. legislature and pass a law doing this.

/crazy federalism talk

Clearvision! RandyM! Valin!

We are not far away from a total takeover by government of those who should but don't fend for themselves.

Pre, after school, breakfast programs, lunch programs.

Why not create 24x7 dorms for welfare mothers, drop in sperm donors, and off spring, with a direct line to the nearest voting machine in their respective state? Just take over suburban neighborhoods, move in welfare recipients.

Reverse ATMs would be outside each targeted area in which the few working stiffs would be required to deposit an increasing part of their pay check on their way to their own underwater homes for the welfare recipients to draw down as needed for drinks and snacks and cigarettes.
