AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, speaking to liberal activists at the Take Back the American Dream conference on Tuesday, declared that only government could create jobs.

The union boss described efforts to demand that Congress spend more money to boost job growth, including a week of "action" the union has planned for Oct. 10 through Oct. 16th.

“We got a long way to go, and the road will be rocky, and it’ll be rough, and we’ll fall down, and we’ll get up, and we’ll keep marching and rallying and fighting," Trumka hollered. "When we call for jobs, they’ll say, ‘government can’t create jobs.’ And we’ll say, ‘Just you watch.’ We’ll make government create jobs, because government action is the only way to create jobs right now.”

He went on to say, “We’ll call for investments in jobs, and they’ll say, ‘America is broke.’ No, America isn’t broke, but our politics are broken.”
