White House: Jobs Act an LGBT issue

With Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., blocking a vote on Obama's jobs bill this afternoon despite the president "insisting," yesterday, on a vote, the White House blog is taking the legislation to a niche interest group in the Democratic party: the LGBT community.

President Obama has struggled to find support for his jobs spending proposal, so now the White House is marketing the bill as a human rights issue - specifically, an issue for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans:

And it is critical that we pass the American Jobs Act because LGBT Americans face the same daily challenges and kitchen table concerns as everyone else.

The blog then quoted President Obama speaking to a LGBT audience over the weekend, when he noted that they and other Americans are "worried about the economy and whether or not your partner or husband or wife will be able to find a job." Obama also observed how LGBT Americans "are tired of the gridlock and the vicious partisanship, and are sick of the Washington games."
