Daily Mail:

The Obamas' summer break on Martha's Vineyard has already been branded a PR disaster after the couple arrived four hours apart on separate government jets.

But according to new reports, this is the least of their extravagances.

White House sources today claimed that the First Lady has spent $10million of U.S. taxpayers' money on vacations alone in the past year.

Expensive taste: Michelle Obama, pictured yesterday in Massachusetts, has been accused of spending $10m of public money on vacations

Branding her 'disgusting' and 'a vacation junkie', they say the 47-year-old mother-of-two has been indulging in five-star hotels, where she splashes out on expensive massages and alcohol.

The 'top source' told the National Enquirer: 'It's disgusting. Michelle is taking advantage of her privileged position while the most hardworking Americans can barely afford a week or two off work.

'When it's all added up, she's spent more than $10million in taxpayers' money on her vacations.'snip

Expensive massages....

Geee!

When masseurs charge by the square inch of body surface, costs are bound to go up.

I'm somewhat skeptical of personal expenses being charged (like the massage). But I have no doubt we are spending way too much on multiple jets, super high end resorts, lodging for all the staff that travels, dinners and such.

I agree. I think that one would be so obviously illegal that it would be easily caught and righted by handlers. HOWEVER, this is a PR disaster because of appearances. It is not that they are taking a vacation, it is how and WHERE they are taking a vacation. Bush went home to a quiet ranch where he worked the land and cooked for his security staff and their families between briefings. That's real. The Obama's can't even bother to coordinate schedules or keep the luxury life to a minimum while giving off a "let them eat cake" attitude. Well, wait, not cake. Let them eat carrots attitude.

It's truly irritating.

At the point of sounding redundant...spot on!

The thing is even if this is not true, the very fact that it is making the rounds show a real tone deafness on the part of the Obama administration. What's wrong with going to Camp David for a vacation?

If the GOP has the sense god gave an animal cracker they are even now putting together ads showing this and his other vacation trip for a 60 second tv spot.
