The Sleeping Giant Awakens By Robin of Berkeley

American Thinker:

One of my closest friends, "Gail," lives in a pristine suburb in northern New Jersey. It's one of those leafy bedroom communities where residents drive their Lexus SUVs to the railroad station each morning to catch the train to Manhattan.

After 9/11, Gail told me that eerily, several vehicles were left abandoned in the parking lot for weeks. Their drivers never returned home that day to retrieve them.

But, in general, not much goes on in her sleepy, idyllic town. The residents rave about shopping sprees to Loehmanns and sprints to Whole Foods for organic strawberries. There is no crime to speak of; the local paper blares news about a recent traffic accident or the opening of a Trader Joe's. So when Gail told me what happened to her son, I was absolutely dumbfounded.

As for Gail, like my former self, she's a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. This isn't surprising given that she's a born-and-raised East Coast Jew. But, unlike the former me, Gail is a liberal, not a self-proclaimed progressive/leftist.

While many conservatives merge liberalism and leftism, there are huge differences between the two camps. Liberals, like Gail, want a kinder and gentler America. They choose safe, suburban suburbs, with schools that (as of yet) do not radicalize their children. While it's the rare liberal who would display a flag on July 4, he still cares about this country, supports Israel, and is wary of radical Islam.

The progressive/leftists are an entirely different species entirely; they do not love this country or Israel. In fact, the far left would like nothing better than to knock the US and Israel down from their high horses.snip

I posted this elsewhere on a site that has suffered much conflict over the O.

So I introduced it this way:

I first became "political" (only word I can think of) when we returned from living in Paris and I saw a subtle change in the mind sets and perspectives and world view of many in this Country. It was a subtle shift to the belief that government should provide for all our needs because we "deserve it". To cut to the chase it was a shift to the new type of European socialism - the Nanny State, redistribution, welfare, equal mediocre playing field for all (except our wealthy privileged politicians and various celebrities.) It was a shift to humanism and secularism and away from the Judeo/Christian principles and precepts that have under-girded Western Civilization. and particularly our United State of America. Political correctness and humanist ideology were infiltrating everywhere from church to schools to government.

While living in France and traveling around Europe I saw first hand the massive problems their type of socialism was having from immigration to the economy (no jobs) to the entitlement mentality and government support etc and TAXES (Oh MY! Another story in itself).

I also saw first hand how authentic Christians in Protestantism and Catholicism are very much the minority. Secularism and humanism reign supreme.

Before this time I considered my self just "American" who voted for the candidate - not the Party.

(Though - except for rare occasions - I tended to vote Republican. Guess because my parents did.)

So any way I first started posting on the old history Message Board - at first because of genealogy, then Dallas/Texas interests and finally on certain current events in the so called political realm (as I became acquainted with many there - a real mixture of the political spectrum.) Before this time in 2004 I had only posted on genealogy sites. Never expressed a political thought before anywhere to friend or foe.

The main reason I posted then and even now on current societal, religious, political events was to say "Wake up America!!" Wake up and do not forget The Lord , your God. Remember HE is The One True God and He sends us the exact same Message from Genesis to Revelation yesterday, today and forever.

Well, 7 years later - here we are.

"They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up." (Hosea ) and cross referenced by

Galatians 6:8 "The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."

Righteousmomma -- I am so sick of the entitlement mindset this great county is embracing, expect everything they want to be handed to them without any thought as to how this stuff is going to be paid for, don't know what happened to working for what you want and need and doing without what you can't provide yourself. It feels like our government is encouraging this mindset and encouraging the anti religion, ignoring the fact that believing in God and following that belief has played a huge part in making this place great.
