Casino67
UPI:WASHINGTON, July 9 (UPI) -- U.S. Republican efforts to stimulate job creation are bottlenecked in the Democrat-controlled Senate, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., said Saturday. The GOP congresswoman said in the House, her party had addressed national debt and unemployment by passing a debt-cutting budget, modernizing the patent system and voting to expand domestic energy production. However, in the Republican party's weekly radio and Internet address, McMorris Rodgers said the bills haven't gone anywhere."Unfortunately, the Democrat-led Senate hasn't considered any of these jobs bills -- not a single one," she said. "In fact, it's been more than 800 days since the Senate last passed a budget."McMorris Rogers quoted President Barack Obama's statement that he was open to job creation ideas from anyone in any party."If that's the case, he should encourage Democrats in the Senate to take up the jobs bills the House has passed," she said.Republicans were quick to criticize the Obama administration Friday after the Labor Department reported more than 14 million people were unemployed for a national 9.2 percent jobless rate.//END//
