Daily Caller:

White House officials have sidelined a rapper who glibly validated threats and violence against police, and quietly dropped him from the afternoon session of today’s poetry event at the White House.

First lady Michelle Obama welcomed the invited poets to the event, but notably did not mention the controversial rapper, whose stage-name is Common. “Rita Dove, Billy Collins, Kenny Goldsmith, Alison Knowles, and Aimee Mann, let’s give them a round of applause,” Ms. Obama said. “We’ll get to hear from these folks,” she added.

The first lady’s office declined to comment on whether Common will play a role in the event’s evening session.

The issue’s political sensitivity was demonstrated at Wednesday’s White House press conference. Reporters for established organizations ignored the issue until April Ryan, a reporter for American Urban Radio, aggressively questioned spokesman Jay Carney about Obama’s support for Chicago-based Common.

So they wait until there is an uproar about him then drop him. Who was planning this thing anyway?

Evidently he did show. Not sure what is up with this article....

During Wednesday's celebration, Common recited lyrics to a rap song in poem form, which tipped his hat to the nation's first African American president and started and ended with words of Martin Luther King playing over the loud speaker.

"Thank you and God bless," Common said at the end of his poem, without referring to the controversy. "I appreciate being here.

I'm about ready to suggest to all parties that celebrities stick to celebratizing (or whatever it is that they do) and politicians stick to politicizing.

Oh wait.
