Valin Posted May 8, 2011 Share Posted May 8, 2011 Hugh Hewitt Blog:Hugh Hewitt 5/7/11 Memeorandum points us to a piece in London's Daily Mail that reports on the theory that bin laden's #2, Amam al-Zawahiri, set up the terrorist leader so Zawahiri could move up to control the network of killers.No one can say whether this is true or just a clever plant by Zawahiri enemies or rivals, but if you have read about the bitter in-fighting within al Qaeda in Lawrence Wright's The Looming Tower you won't doubt the potential for it being true. If you haven't yet read it, you really ought to before engaging in any commentary on the future of the terrorist group. Wright also has a short piece on the killing of bin Laden up at The New Yorker. All revolutions eventually eat their own, and al Qaeda is more than likely no different than Yugoslavia turned out after Tito died or the Soviet Union after Lenin kicked off. Another interesting thing is that the Mullahs in Teheran are getting tired of Ahmanutjob's rants and he could well be the next one on the chopping block. BTW: Francisco Franco is also still dead. Fox News' Dominic Di-Natale said he could not confirm news of an explosion, but rumors are circulating that Pakistanis intend to blow up the compound to prevent the site from becoming a shrine.
