It's All Coming Apart
By Monty Pelerin

Despite Government propaganda and manipulated statistics to the contrary, our economy continues to deteriorate. For every "green shoot" highlighted by the Government and its lackey media, multiple contra-examples are cited by independent analysts.

snip

Contrary to the way that economics is taught, there is no such thing as an economic machine where a "pump can be primed" or the economy can be "stimulated." All there are millions of individuals all making decisions designed to enable them to navigate through life. For most, their primary objective is the financial and physical security of themselves and their families. In scary economic times, these decisions are affected.

In order to right the economy, the fear and uncertainty imposed by existing and future government mandates and actions alluded to by Mr. Casey must be removed. Doing so will not be easy, for more is in play than Mr. Casey's short quote suggests. There are at least five considerations that should be of concern to all of us:

1. An Incompetent President - snip

2. An Incompetent Political Class - snip

3. An Incorrect Paradigm - snip

4. An Unhappy Ending - snip

5. A Dangerous Prelude to the Ending - Government is insolvent. snip

A must read. Both parties at fault.

See # 2

2. An Incompetent Political Class -The political class attained power via Santa Claus economics, providing gifts to constituents in return for votes. Both parties are guilty. Politicians have conditioned themselves and their constituents to "free-lunch" governance. Few know how to govern in any other fashion. Most are indistinguishable from prostitutes -- vote for me and I will do "that" for you. Both parties want to preserve the welfare-warfare State, disagreeing merely on the means of doing so.

The very fact that we've evolved a "Political Class" is so far from what the Founders intended and is the root cause for all of problems stated within the article. We need term limits, but will never get them, because we would have to count on the politicians to vote themselves out of their jobs.

Our system was designed to be operated by citizen politicians who were to care for the fiscal and defense needs of the country at large, not all this interference in our daily lives. It is easy to blame all our problems on the current oaf sitting in the Oval Office, or Liberals, or Democrats. But in truth, these problems started the day we allowed this "Political Class" to come about in the first place.

I may not like it...you may not like it, but the fact is voters have the right to vote in whoever they want.

That and the small matter of a USSC ruling Wikipedia: U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton

U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton, 514 U.S. 779 (1995)[1], was a case in which the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that states cannot impose qualifications for prospective members of the U.S. Congress stricter than those specified in the Constitution. The decision invalidated the Congressional term limit provisions of 23 states. The parties to the case were U.S. Term Limits, a non-profit advocacy group, and the politician Ray Thornton, among others.

Looking to term limits as an answer is (as things stand today) a non starter. The answer is to find recruit and support good candidates, that can win.

The problem is that the average voter is uninvolved and under educated, especially when it comes to issues. As our public school systems continue to decline and become more a vehicle of indoctrination instead of education, the problem will become worse.

An example of this problem can be found in any of those little "man on the street" interviews where pedestrians are asked about politics and politicians......the more liberal the area, the fewer people that can answer any of the questions. Since these interviews tend to be shot in higher population centers which tend to be the most liberal areas, frequently the reporters cannot find a single person who can answer basic questions about our system of government and the people currently involved in it.

I recently watched one of these segments on BBC and it became clear why most of the world consider Americans to be stupid.

Valin! Argyle!

You raise good points, Valin!

On the surface our system should survive an occasional dipshi!t for President, but the system falls apart when the media is complicit and supports en evil regime that rewards its followers, pays for votes, and launders tax dollars to keep itself in power. As Argyle postulates, the voter is misled if not under educated. The voice of reason is suppressed because the government and the presstitutes drown it out. I will continue to pray for our Nation if Obama wins another term.

Good points to be sure, (you're preaching to the choir, guy). So I would say we have a job of work to do. It's part of our job to educate people (I like to print out and leave lying around for people to pick up and read, for example)...in addition to finding good candidates who can win.
