"Charlotte, North Carolina will host the 46th Democratic National Convention in 2012."All the contending cities were places that Barack and I have grown to know and love, so it was a hard choice," Obama wrote. "But we are thrilled to be bringing the convention to Charlotte."Charlotte is a city marked by its southern charm, warm hospitality, and an 'up by the bootstraps' mentality that has propelled the city forward as one of the fastest-growing in the South," the first lady said in her e-mail. "Vibrant, diverse, and full of opportunity, the Queen City is home to innovative, hardworking folks with big hearts and open minds."And of course, great barbecue," she said. The Democratic ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden narrowly defeated the Republican ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin in North Carolina in the 2008 presidential election.//END//

righteousmomma
Yikes is right! Charlotte has a dynamic, active downtown and a super convention/sports set up but its basically about politics. Our Dem governor is touting it as a good boost to NC no matter the Party. HAH!! NC as a State went for W but ole O comes along and they pretty well bought, gerrymandered and bused in the vote and O barely made it. Next time they think he will lose soooooooo.... . righteousmomma
"And of course, great barbecue," she (Michelle) said. HAH again, bet Michelle has no clue about NC barbecue. First place Lexington (over an hour's drive from Charlotte) is famous for barbecue and its PORK. http://www.barbecuefestival.com/
