Daily Caller:

CBS anchor Katie Couric believes a “Muslim version of ‘The Cosby Show’” could open the eyes of Americans and perhaps put an end to all the ”seething hatred many people feel towards all Muslims.”

On her CBSNews.com web show, Couric discussed 2010 in review with a panel, and among Couric’s biggest concerns about 2010 was the controversy surrounding the Park51 Islamic Cultural Center project.

“The bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface,” Couris said. “Of course, a lot of noise was made about the Islamic Center, mosque, down near the World Trade Center, but I think there wasn’t enough sort of careful analysis and evaluation of where this bigotry toward 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, and how this seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected, and so wrong — and so disappointing.”

Fellow panelist and NPR regular Mo Rocca noted that societal changes need to be made when “really smart,” well educated people like him don’t know much about Islam.

“I’m pretty smart, and I can’t tell you … I mean I went to really fancy schools and I cannot tell you five things about Islam. I know almost nothing about a major world religion that sits at the intersection of so many issues that all are undeniably relevant to all of us,” Rocca said.

“Maybe we need a Muslim version of ’The Cosby Show,’” Couric replied. “I know that sounds crazy, I know that sounds crazy. But ‘The Cosby Show’ did so much to change attitudes about African Americans in this country, and I think sometimes people are afraid of what they don’t understand, like you, Mo … If they became part of the popular culture.”snip

Well. I have to admit, I'd like to see this idea flushed out a bit.

Can she describe for me a plot line?

Thomas Lifson has a good article on this at American Thinker.

Some of the reader comments are pretty good;

The possibilities are endless: The Burka on the runway. The stoning of Auntie Em. The flogging of Francine. The cutting off of limbs by Ahmed. The hanging of gays by the Iman. The beheading of Belinda. The exploding vest by Vivianne. Murder & Mayhem in Beirut. The Roach Motel: there is no leaving in Islam.

Great quote Casino67!

Did you learn that from Farfur Mouse?

Really don't remember where it came from. Always thought it was funny though. I seem to recall it was said by a human though. :)

I can see it now the Cosadabab family takes a vacation to the beach. AHHH waves lapping, sun shining, a wonderful 90degrees! There is Father Mohamed Cosadabab followed by Cosaabdab, Jr. and both looking quite buff in their cool Ralph Lauren swim shorts and behind them come the women folk -can't tell who is who though because heavy black burkas protect their dignity and privacy from top of head to feet. There they stand in the edge of surf with burkas blowing in the wind, just soaking up the rays.

(Actually saw this scenario in France and also daily on the streets of Paris where the men and boys wore total Western clothing and the women followed along behind in their "respected privacy" of protection from prying eyes)

If the Cosby Show changed atttitudes, perhaps Couric can tell us why race relations are going down the tube in recent years? It is worse today than in the 60s and 70s.

If I were so ignorant on an important topic, I'd go investigate it, or buy a shelf's worth of books for my library and do some studying up.

They want someone to produce a particular comedy show on television to explore and exploit stereotypes and sell some stuff that nobody needs!

Reason #485 I will never be a Liberal/Progressive.

This is the same woman who thought we all wanted to watch her get a colonoscopy at 7:30am over coffee and donuts.

Yikes, I think that'd be bad anytime day or night, eats or no eats.

 EveningStar.

Btw a young woman who was in on bringing "On the Border" (Mexican restaurant) to Dubai says they had to have separate entrances for the men and women so guess the men would go in through Cliff's lower level Ob office?
