Butterfield of North Carolina proposed that Rangel receive a lesser reprimand that would not require the 20-term veteran to appear personally to receive his punishment. The reprimand was rejected on a 267-146 vote. Rangel lobbied colleagues against long odds in an effort to receive a slap on the wrist after he was convicted of filing misleading financial disclosure reports for a decade
Casino67
No mention of him losing his seat on the Finance committee. What did they accomplish? Nancy chastised him for less than sixty seconds and now everything goes back to normal. So he has to pay his taxes, does it include interest? Could putting the tax money in his pocket for 17 years be considered personal enrichment? What a waste of time.
