The State in the Third Millennium

Amazon review....

This review is from: The State in the Third Millennium (Hardcover)

Normally, in the political non-fiction genre, books tend to either drive the reader up the wall or make him or her dance in the aisles. In stark contrast to such political partiism, though, Prince Hans-Adam's books keeps the reader not just riveted, but inspired to keep on turning pages no matter what Political Party he or she might belong to. It is a gold mine of ideas, from shedding a fresh, third-millennium light on the truths we all hold self-evident, to outright eye-openers that would be considered utopian had they not been written by the head of the richest country in the world. I googled the constitutional monarchy of the Principality of Liechtenstein. And one indisputable fact keeps coming up on top: Prince Hans-Adam II (65) has built an exemplary democratic state with the highest per-capita income on Earth (not to mention unparalleled healthcare and pension benefits along with truly minimal income taxes) -- for which he enjoys a popularity rating that would make most US politician green with envy. In other words, what reader of this book would want to argue with success?

Also, it seems to be a noteworthy coincidence that this book appeared almost exactly 500 years after Machiavelli presented his immortal wisdom to a Prince (Lorenzo di Medici), which could only make one wonder. Is "The State in the Third Millennium" a long overdue reply from a Prince to people's politicians?
