DNC spokesman led Democrats’ undisclosed spending in 2008

Brad Woodhouse, a spokesman for the DNC, has been decrying groups like Crossroads GPS for spending undisclosed money in elections. But two years ago, he ran such a group, Americans United for Change, which ran exactly the same kinds of ads against several Republicans.

Bring it up to Woodhouse — like The New York Times did — and he’ll cry foul:

Mr. Woodhouse said the comparison is unfair. He said Americans United for Change did not run the same kind of political advertising that Crossroads GPS and the other conservative groups are financing. “We didn’t do any advertising that mentioned or attacked candidates like the kind Karl Rove is running during the election — so we didn’t do the type of ads that we are highlighting here,” Mr. Woodhouse said Friday.
