Christine O’Donnell says GOP has left her

POLITICO:

Delaware GOP Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell claims the national Republican Party has abandoned her.

At a post debate party at an Irish pub, O’Donnell called out the National Republican Senatorial Committee for not helping her campaign.

"The Democratic senatorial committee is running ads against me. The Democratic Party is running ads against me,” O'Donnell said, according to Fox News. “The Republican Party on the state level, or on the national level, neither have come in to help me close the gap in the polls.

"And my opponent, there’s so much to attack him on, yet the NRSC refuses to play, and that, that baffles me," she added. "Because he’s a – he’s a sitting duck.”

The situation isn't that baffling, however: Party committees rarely commit financial resources late in the election season to campaigns that trail badly in the polls. A CNN/Opinion Research poll released Wednesday shows Democrat Chris Coons leading by 19 percentage points. (See: O'Donnell can't name Supreme Court case)

During the debate with Coons Wednesday night, O'Donnell said that she remains in a fight “to some extent” with the Republican establishment that backed her primary opponents, Rep. Mike Castle.

NRSC Communications Director Brian Walsh downplayed O'Donnell's claims. "If there's any fighting that would be news to us," he said. "Our staff is in daily contact with her team and in fact the NRSC's political director was just on the ground in Delaware this past week meeting with her staff and discussing how best to spend the incredible amount of how money she's raised over the last several weeks."

The NRSC maxed out to O’Donnell following the primary, transferring $42,000 from the committee to O’Donnell’s campaign.

AAAAAAAND WE HAVE A WHINER!!

Don't go the Palin route Christine, don't start blaming everyone but yourself! I would have thought she would be a bit more mature than that. UGH! Didn't she say that she didn't need the Republican Party???

It seems that O'Donnell has more money pouring into her campaign from all over the US than most other candidates have access to. Most of the ads I have seen out here have been put on by the candidates campaigns. This is what Obama does all the time. Anytime he gets any criticism, it's Bush's fault. There used to be a time when candidates lost gracefully and didn't blame people or demand recounts. This makes O'Donnell look petty and I'm embarrassed for her. This should have been done in private phone call to Michael Steele. She is getting horrible advice.

I was disappointed with the first two ads. She finally did better with Taxman. If she were very smart, she would appeal to David Zucker to help her put more ads together.

It seems that Christine O'Donnell was ill advised to get into this race. The Washington Post found out that the Palin advisers (Randy Scheunemann and Michael Goldfarb) did prep her for the debate (not surprising). That was another bad idea. I'm not saying it's her fault - she's a sweet girl and she's really trying hard but she's doomed to fail because she needs some sort of experience first.

Maybe she should try some community organizing for awhile. :)

One difference between the DemocRATs and the Republicans, is the Dem's appear to be in it to win it, even with the momentum against em.

They will do any dirty thing to win. Street fighting someone that believes in only using the Marquis de Queensbury rules.

You can't tell me that there are no points to attack Coon's that couldn't be broadcast 24-7. What little I saw of the debate, made me think she acquitted herself quite well, even with a little bias from the moderator.

Then again, we all see what we want, when we hope for a particular outcome. I don't have "Palinitis" and regard her as an heroic figure with human flaws. The same way I think of O'Donnell.

Is it un-American, or unseemly to strive for something you believe in, even if the odds are against you?

Absolutely not, SrWoodchuck. But something bad has happened to politics ever since the whine and bad sportsmanship of Al Gore. The Democrats now recount and find lost ballots until they get the results they want. People like Murkowski refuse to accept the will of the electorate and go Third Party. And now we have the Whine heard around the world from O'Donnell.

It's great to fight but not so great to whine especially if you dissed the GOP and are now complaining they aren't give you more money than your share. btw, there was never any whining allowed in the Stella household :D Personal responsibility was the rule of the household.

Stella!

At Woodchuck Manor, [under Geee's shed] we have a sign right at the entry that says:

"Absolutely NO Whinin', Blubberin' or Cryin' allowed on these Premises!"

When our grandkids were allowed to visit, they'd just look up at it and shake their heads.

shout Stella, you would agree with her if you had been here and saw the way she was treated by the state GOP. The GOP here would research her past, then pass it on to the local paper that was only too happy to repeat it. Then the national media picked up on it and then the clips of her on Stewart's show began popping up. She really was battling the party, press, and the media in general. And she still beat Castle. Or Castle beat Castle. In any event she is representing the GOP and they still haven't totally accepted that.

Would you agree that she is being treated like some wacko third party candidate?

And there is plenty in Coons' past to talk about. His own family declared bankruptcy. His mother divorced and then married into the Gore money. And Gore does make products that will benefit under the cap n tax program. Plenty to talk about on his side that is ignored by the MSM, here and nationally.

It's one of the reason I talk in generalities about O'Donnell unless she whines. This election is never talked about in our local news or papers. The only reason I know anything about it is because of the blogs. Why did the state GOP treat her so badly? Out here, they do that to a lot of GOP candidates to the point that they can't get people to put their names on the ballot and fund their own races. The candidates who are treated so poorly by the Illinois GOP always end up losing, too.

I truly like all of you on TRR. There is no other place where we can have these discussions without being called names.

The state GOP was backing the incumbent and she was upsetting their applecart. They thought they had a sure thing and here comes some little girl trying to horn in.

Another anecdote. Every two years, one of the homes I would pass on the way to the store would have a large, like 4' x 8' sign in their yard for 'Vote Castle'. This year there was no sign. It would have been up for the primary through to the general. Don't know the meaning, but wondered if they had given up on Castle. The cap n tax vote was a real killer for him.

LOL! Great picture! What I really think is she's setting up the GOP as a scapegoat if she loses, which she is going to do. She needs someone to blame. Maybe the GOP is not giving her anymore money because she's been losing and she is not having a hard time raising money with donations coming in from all over the country on her own. Remember the GOP is backing candidates all over the country. Money doesn't grow on trees. She has not shown that she can win a race yet. Someone like her who is sure to lose is not worth throwing more money at. If she can't raise money in her own state what the heck is she running for? Besides she has $2.5 million - where are all the ads? She only did a couple of web ads and that was it? Why isn't she using the money? She has a little over 2 weeks left.

Is Palin still coming out to Delaware to campaign for her? This reminds me of McCain. He ended his miserable campaign with a surplus.

That's what she said she was going to do. But it may just be some Robo Calls. Obummer and Biden are coming to campaign for Coons - that will help him. Biden is loved in Delaware whether we like him or not. And those who say that Obummer is going there because the polls are closer than we think are wrong. If the polls were close Bill Clinton will be there not Obummer. He's the most popular ex-president right now. That's why I think the polls are correct.

I don't understand how all the polls could be wrong especially if it's a Blue State. Why would anyone possibly think that in a state like Delaware, that a Conservative could win? Unless it's a total vote against Obama and not for O'Donnell, it just seems unlikely she can pull this off.

If she keeps making comments about the GOP she does not have a bright future. This comment may have made her radioactive. Who do you think funds her campaigns? The GOP(RNC). She is biting the hand that feeds her.She is thowing a tiffy fit.
