Guest areafiftyone
DELAWARE ONLINE:Continuing a wave of polling data being released this week, the University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication released poll data showing Democrat Chris Coons with a 21 percentage point lead over Republican Christine O’Donnell.Of the 2,355 polled, 54 percent backed Coons and 33 percent backed O’Donnell. The poll has a margin of error of 2.1 percentage points.“Coons leads among almost all significant demographic groups, and is running so competitively in the central and southern parts of the state, it’s unlikely that O’Donnell can make up ground with her current course in the campaign,” Assistant Professor of Political Science David C. Wilson said in a news release.O’Donnell was leading among conservatives, but only with 68 percent backing her. Coons held large leads among moderates (66 percent) and liberals (87 percent). Casino67
I wonder if they polled the entire state or just New Castle County? U of DE tilts very much to the left.

Since this came from a University it would seem it was done correctly. I still trust Rasmussen more than any other polling group.

Saw this at Pew's twitter page: "Polling this year suggest that the landline-only bias is as large--or larger--than it was in 2008. http://pewrsr.ch/a4DK2d" An anecdote. I was at the VA a few weeks ago talking to a lady in maybe her late twenties. The subject of phones came up somehow. I said something about just having a cell for my only phone and she said "who doesn't?". If they are only polling landlines, then I suspect their universe is sort of old. Don't know exactly what that means, but....... And as for cellphones, I have mine set to only ring when one of my contacts calls. If not a contact, then the call goes straight to voice mail. So I will never be polled.
Guest areafiftyone
I wonder if they polled the entire state or just New Castle County? U of DE tilts very much to the left. This poll includes Kent and Sussex Counties (the Republican counties). This does not look good for Christine. It might not be exactly 21 but I would say she's at least 16 points behind. Smart - he's not trashing her or anything. Should be interesting to watch.
Valin
Sorry..... O'Donnell fans. RCP Average: Coons +18.3 I've not followed this race all that much, but to this far down in the election season, against this candidate, say someone is doing a horrible job of running the O'Donnell campaign. ErnstBlofeld
All the polls from Rasmussen to the recent polls have O'Donnell trailing badly.

Jill
I REALLY want her to win but . . . Sorry..... O'Donnell fans. NCTexan
Interesting that the "Coons/O'Donnell" threads seem to be the most popular threads here these days. A little self indulgent schadenfreude? We've got a lot of really good stuff going on across the country. Just saying.

To really control the Senate you really need 62-63 votes. My question is, was there no other choice? Aside: When Dingy Harry loses who will the Democrats nominate? Pepper
NCTexan! Great minds think alike. I had already opined once on that as a drive by remark. You are correct, there's only a brazillion other races going on but perhaps we need a constant Coons O'Donnell Thermometer of Doom or a Paladino Gaffe of the Minute post to keep our expectations and hopes to a realistic level. Interesting that the "Coons/O'Donnell" threads seem to be the most popular threads here these days. A little self indulgent schadenfreude? Casino67
ComradeCoons[[from Twitter]] Wow it was 3 against 1 and she beat all 3 of us. Ouch! --------------------- I don't know if anyone watched, but I think she smoked him. But I am an R in DE so I may be biased. Now we wait for the real poll. The first two ads were horrible- the last one was much better. But she's not doing well at all in the polls and it seems to be getting worse for her. Although last night in the debate she had some good moments but then it happened... she had her "Sarah Palin Moment" when she could not answer about the Supreme Court. She's not up to snuff to be a Senator - she needs to work her way up.
