You know that's what is bothering me about this.

All the coverage I've read about this talks about how this "appears." It appears wrong, it appears thoughtless, it appears callous.

Well. You know what? Let's assume for the record that this trip ends up costing taxpayers 400,000 dollars. That could give TEN people an average wage for a YEAR in this country. TEN PEOPLE. And they are blowing through it like it was pocket change over and over again. And it would employ TWENTY-SEVEN people in the poorest communities making minimum wage for a year.

We hear millions and billions and trillions tossed around so much these days, we forget just how large a sum 400,000 is.

It is time we get a little perspective on this. It doesn't just APPEAR thoughtless, callous and wrong. It IS thoughtless, callous and wrong.

Hear! Hear!

The First Lady, her youngest daughter Sasha, and their group of friends left the Spanish coast and travelled to Ronda for a day of sightseeing accompanied by their vast security escort in a 13 car motorcade.

The group — which included a number of Mrs Obama's friends – visited some of the town's historic houses and later stopped for lunch at Del Escudero restaurant, set in a 19th century villa with whitewashed walls and red roof tiles located next to the bullring.

Meanwhile at the five-star luxury Villa Padierna, where the group have chosen to spend their mini-break, preparations were under way for Marbella's event of the year – a star-studded charity gala hosted by Hollywood A-listers Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria.

Onyx has posted on FR that an article in El Mundo says that Michele has a meeting scheduled with Prince Salman bin Abdelaziz, governor of Riyadh and brother of the deceased Rey Fahd of Saudi Arabia and another meeting with the owner of Malaga CF, businessman multimillionaire, son of the Secretary of the Interior of Qatar and member of the real family Qatari, Abdulla Al Thani. Nothing about these meetings has been reported in the American press and that for some strange reason Jesse Jackson Jr. is also along on the trip.
