Geee
Washington Examiner:Look who might testify for BlagojevichBy: DAVID FREDDOSOOnline Opinion Editor06/27/10 7:20 PM EDTAlexi Giannoulias, the Democrats’ Senate nominee in Illinois, has received a subpoena from the defense team of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, D.When asked what he’ll be testifying about, Giannoulias said he probably won’t be testifying. Why not?“They subpoenaed any and everybody to try and get everyone involved from the president down to the dog catcher, so I think this shouldn’t be surprising,” Giannoulias said…Giannoulias’ name was mentioned briefly last week during Blagojevich’s trial. Former Blagojevich chief of staff John Harris was heard on federal wiretaps mentioning that Giannoulias had called about Obama’s old seat on behalf of someone else. Blagojevich is heard telling Harris not to meet with Giannoulias about the matter.Giannoulias was lobbying for Blagojevich to appoint Valerie Jarrett. He introduced Jarrett to a key SEIU official, Tom Balanoff, and attended a meeting between the two, but he seems to have forgotten what happened:He said he also attended an informal meeting between Jarrett and Balanoff shortly after Obama’s election but “didn’t really participate in it” and doesn’t remember what they talked about. He said he never talked to Obama or Blagojevich about the matter.
