According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the President’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has a heftier price tag than initially thought. The CBO said Biden’s climate agenda was projected to cost $428 billion. In 2022, the CBO initially expected the IRA’s climate and energy provisions to tap out at $400 billion. However, experts admit that the estimate was too low. “The budgetary effects of energy-related tax provisions remain highly uncertain,” the CBO said.
