Issues & Insights

Since Elon Musk took over, Twitter has been kicking more people off its network. Except this time around it isn’t conservatives getting the boot. It’s those trafficking in child porn.

This is what the left and woke companies are freaking out about?

Cybersecurity firm Ghost Data reported over the weekend that Twitter had nearly doubled the number of accounts it’s suspending each day that were sharing child pornography.

“In the past 24 hours, Twitter started to step up its efforts and took down 44,000 suspicious accounts, including over 1,300 profiles that tried to bypass detection using codewords and text in images to communicate. Zero tolerance,” said Ghost Data founder Andrea Stoppa, who has been monitoring this, in a tweet.

“Twitter is now fighting vigorously against child sexual exploitation content, it’s thanks to one person that set it as the #1 priority: Elon Musk,” she tweeted.

“It is true,” Musk said, “Twitter has done more to stop child exploitation in the last month than probably the last 10 years. That’s insane. It kind of blows my mind, frankly.”

Long before Musk took control, Twitter knew it had a massive child porn problem on its hands but was doing little to stamp it out.:snip:

Elon Musk’s first Twitter manipulation effort was a big flop
The “Twitter Files” he helped promote were supposed to be a smoking gun about Democratic election interference at Twitter. The revelations fell far short.

Over the weekend, conservatives, led by Elon Musk, tried to whip up right-wing fury and manufacture a political scandal after Musk had promised to share evidence of Twitter wickedly wielding its influence over U.S. elections. Ultimately, the “proof” fell far short of being the smoking gun that right-wingers had promised.

Essentially, what we got from conservatives was just a Twitter regurgitation of the same conspiratorial claims that got then-President Donald Trump impeached back in 2019: that Democrats nefariously worked to suppress stories about unproven wrongdoing by Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son — behavior that Trump and fellow Republicans baselessly allege the elder Biden worked to cover up as well.

It’s noteworthy that, years into this right-wing conspiracy about the president’s son, Republicans have presented no proof of its veracity. On the other hand, news reports and government probes have found that foreign adversaries have helped spread claims about the Biden family in a seeming effort to sow division in U.S. politics, similar to Russia’s strategy in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. With that in mind, it’s understandable why (reasonable) people in charge of social networks would be cautious — even hyper-cautious — about sharing something perceived to be potentially foreign-sourced disinfo.

This goes way beyond needing to merely drain a swamp. This will require a root and branch makeover of the government and I'm not sure that's possible at this point.

I Don't know about a Root And  Branch Makeover, a 30% reduction in the Federal Government might be a good place to start.

EPA 600 people They solved the pollution problem years ago, now its just monitoring. Dept. of  Education Gone, because they've done such a bang up  job of improving education /Sarc. Dept. of  Energy....Why are they there? USA  America survived quite nicely before 1963. Maybe 15 people in each? I could go on.

state

At  a minimum get them out of the DC area. Scatter these agencies across the fruited plain.
