The “Red Trickle” continues in the House with Republicans inching toward a majority. As of 7 a.m. CST on Sunday, Republicans are assured of winning 214 seats in the House with the Democrats winning 210, according to CBS News.

That leaves 11 seats still to be decided, most of them in California, where five days after the in-person voting ended, nine races remain to be called.

For Democrats to have any chance of holding the House, they’d have to win in the 22nd, 27th, and 41st, all districts where the Republican incumbent is in the lead.

“If Democrats won all three of those races in California, then think the odds go up that the Democrats can hold the House. But if Democrats lose one of those three, the odds go way down, they lose two of those three, the door slams shut,” said Sara Mitchell, a Democratic strategist.

I Hope this projection is right, but the most I'm seeing from both Fox and RCP is 212 with only 19 more races to be decided and they are mostly in Ca. If that is true, it really doesn't look as good as this projection is showing.

ONE SEAT AWAY:House majority within GOP grasp after key win in California race

The Associated Press projects that GOP Rep. Ken Calvert will defeat his Democratic challenger, Will Rollins, following a competitive race for California's 41st congressional district.

This race, considered a must-win for Republicans, pushes the GOP one seat closer to the 218 seats needed to regain a House majority, though control of the House is still up for grabs according to Associated Press race projections.

The Republicans currently have 217 seats in GOP control, and there are 13 seats left in play to determine the balance of power in the House.  :snip:

With 13 seats left to call, I think we can assume (OMG please) that the Republicans will pic up at least one to take the majority.

You would have thought that after all the uproar in 2020 that would have been the case - but then there were so many pressing issues. Trans rights and global hysteria etc etc

Republicans have secured a majority in the House of Representatives when the 118th U.S. Congress convenes next January.

The GOP has now won 218 seats after The Associated Press projected that Republican Mike Garcia will win re-election in California's 27th Congressional District.

Democrats, meanwhile, have secured 209 seats as vote counting continues more than a week after Election Day. Eight seats are still in play. :snip:
