When New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie wrote a love letter of sorts to Donald Trump and his “soft edges and eccentricity,” it didn’t take long for people to see this for what it is: an opening salvo by the press to start demonizing the next Republican.

In his column, Bouie coos about how Trump is “funny, he has stage presence, and he has a kind of natural charisma. He can be a bully in part because he can temper his cruelty and egoism with the performance of a clown or a showman. He can persuade an audience that he’s just kidding — that he doesn’t actually mean it.”

Anyone not blinded by Trump hatred would probably agree with this description. But it is Bouie who doesn’t actually mean what he’s saying.

Bouie is a guy who, when Trump first ran for president, declared definitively that “Trump is a fascist,” and that this was “the political label that best describes what the GOP front-runner has become.” Then he spent four years recoiling at the horror of the Trump presidency.:snip:

@Geee

Nixon...Goldwater...Nixon...Ford...Reagan...Bush...Bush...Trump. All bad terrible people. Then thee was McCain he went  from "Our Kind Of Republican" to Hitler, back to ""Our Kind Of Republican" in  around a year.

What The Trump supporters are/will say, Why Not Take The Real Deal? Trump is the Real Deal, DeSantis is a johnny come lately.

IMO The Big 3  Trump...Cruz..DeSantis. And a Bunch  of "HEY, LOOK  AT ME! candidates, most of whom the question must be asked Why Are They Running?

The big thing DeSantis has going for him, is he comes across as Trump W/O the negatives (ie thin skinned).

One thing I will say this looks like a  New Republican Party, Thanks To The Evil Orange Man...ie They Fight (and they could give a flying rats ass what The Washington Post says about them)!  Nationally, State Wide the days of Go Along To Get Along are over. This is both  Good & Bad. But it is the new Reality. Here in Mn. I'm seeing Republican being called Trump Like, by Corporate  Media, IMO If they are going to call  you that....Give them a Good Reason.

Here endth the sermon.
