Supreme Court rules New York's strict concealed carry gun law is unconstitutional

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a long-standing New York concealed carry law violated the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The high court heard arguments over the case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen in November, when justices in the 6-3 Republican-appointed majority appeared skeptical of the law's requirement to demonstrate a "proper cause" for obtaining a license to carry a concealed pistol or revolver.

Justice Clarence Thomas authored the 6-3 ruling on Thursday.

A pair of plaintiffs who challenged the law, Robert Nash and Brandon Koch, filed their lawsuit after the Empire State rejected their concealed carry applications for insufficiently demonstrating a special need for a permit despite having already passed required background checks for gun licenses for hunting and target practice.

'It Has Become Necessary to Dissolve' SCOTUS: Liberals Meltdown Over Second Amendment Decision

 

Liberals are melting down on Twitter over the Supreme Court’s decision in a major case involving the Second Amendment.

On Thursday, the court released its opinion in the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen case, which struck down New York’s restrictive law, arguing that it violates the Second and Fourth Amendments.

The decision triggered an avalanche of fury as liberals took to Twitter to blast the Supreme Court and suggest that it should be dissolved.

It is not their job to agree or disagree, only to enforce the law  - just as it is not the Courts job to agree or disagree, but to interpret the intention of  the laws passed by the legislature and to determine whether or not those laws conform to the Constitution.
