Governor Walz: Restrictions Will Stay In Place “Until We Get A Vaccine”

Experts say it will take 12-18 months to make a vaccine. Walz says that restrictions will have to stay in place until then.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says that the restrictions his administration has implemented to combat the spread of coronavirus “need to get us through until we get a vaccine.”

“The things we’re putting in place need to get us through until we get a vaccine,” he declared at a press conference, Saturday. “This is not over, we still have no vaccine… and our numbers in Minnesota will continue to go [up],” he said.

This comes after Minnesota legislators have voiced their concerns that goalposts have been moved as Walz responds to the virus. Proponents of this belief contend that the original goal of flattening the short term transmission curve of the virus appears to have been forgone in favor of longer term strategies that require more drastic government action.

Analysis Shows 50,000 Hotel-Related Jobs Lost in Minnesota

The impact to our industry is already more severe than anything we’ve seen before, including September 11th and the great recession of 2008 combined.”

In Minnesota, over 50,000 jobs have been lost due to Covid-19 Economic Shutdown in the hotel sector, according to a recent analysis.

The analysis was done by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and shows that 15,202 jobs directly in the hotel industry may be lost, nearly half of the 34,550 direct hotel jobs. When including jobs that rely on the hotel industry, the number rises to 53,482. With many hotels projecting occupancies of below 20%, many may close, which the analysis says would put 33,000 small businesses at risk

The impact to our industry is already more severe than anything we’ve seen before, including September 11th and the great recession of 2008 combined,” said Chip Rogers, CEO of AH&LA.

Minneapolis Mayor Considering Order To Shutdown Churches Again

"We are considering some form of an emergency regulation to prevent that number of people from gathering," the Mayor of Minneapolis said, speaking on churches reopening.

May 25, 2020

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says he’s considering “an emergency regulation” to prevent churches from opening after Governor Tim Walz said worship can resume at 25% capacity.

Walz announced over the weekend that churches are allowed to reopen at 25% capacity, provided that social distancing guidelines be met, that singing be limited and that the total number of congregants does not exceed 250. However, Frey says that he may contradict the governor’s order with his own emergency regulation in Minneapolis.

“Moving up to 25% capacity & up to 250 people in places of worship is… not the route that we can, or should, be going on right now. We are considering some form of an emergency regulation to prevent that number of people from gathering,” he said on CNN, Monday.

Police chief says protesters ‘targeted officers with commercial grade fireworks’ during precinct vandalism

Protesters outside the Minneapolis Police Department’s Fifth Precinct building shot fireworks at officers, threw rocks at the station, splattered fake blood on the ground, and egged the windows Saturday night.

Roughly 50 people, some wearing Antifa masks, protested outside the police station, launching objects and vandalizing the building with anti-police messages. Commercial-grade fireworks had been fired by protesters, though no officers were injured.

Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo thanked the protesters who assembled peacefully, and threatened those who would “hijack” peaceful protests with the full extent of the law.

“Last night, individuals marched to the Minneapolis Police Department’s 5th Precinct and proceeded to vandalize the exterior of the building and target officers with commercial grade fireworks. This unlawful and senseless behavior will not be tolerated. Acts such as these do absolutely nothing to constructively engage and activate true and real needed reforms,” Chief Arradondo said in a statement.

Apparent record of Dem at center of Hugo outburst shows past charges of domestic assault, terroristic threats

The Minnesota Democrat who told a crowd to burn down the town of Hugo may have a criminal record, per a court document that appears to match his name and birthday.

John Thompson, the Minnesota Democrat who threatened to burn down the town of Hugo, was seemingly charged with domestic assault and making terroristic threats, but never convicted.

Thompson made national headlines after he delivered a profanity-laden rant outside the home of Minneapolis police union president Bob Kroll on Aug. 15. During his address, Thompson emboldened the crowd to burn down Hugo, Minnesota, the town where Kroll lives, and screamed at local teenage girls standing in their own driveway.

In 2019, Thompson was arrested for trespassing and obstruction after an incident at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota that put the facility on lockdown, according to WCCO. It does not appear these charges led to convictions.

Additionally, Thompson appears to have been charged with domestic assault in 2006, making terroristic threats in 2002, and committing 21 traffic-related infractions, per a criminal record matching his name. He seems to have two disorderly conduct convictions, but the other charges for domestic assault and making terroristic threats were dismissed.

I read Strategy page Every Day. One of the words that keeps popping up is Corruption. I believe people will accept a certain amount of corruption, in government, what they won't accept is corruption mixed with incompetence.

One of the things we should look for here in America is (mainly) political corruption mixed with incompetence and hypocrisy. That people will not stand for.

One of the things about Donald Trump, you can accuse him of many things (for the Left corruption and incompetence are are the order of the day)  hypocrisy is not one of them. For better or worse Its All Out There.
