The AP reports at the top of its long story:

Quote

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the shadowy leader of the Islamic State group who presided over its global jihad and became arguably the world’s most wanted man, is believed dead after being targeted by a U.S. military raid in Syria.

A U.S. official told The Associated Press late Saturday that al-Baghdadi was targeted in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province. The official said confirmation that the IS chief was killed in an explosion is pending. No other details were available. The official was not authorized to discuss the strike and spoke on condition of anonymity.

President Donald Trump teased a major announcement, tweeting Saturday night that “Something very big has just happened!” A White House spokesman, Hogan Gidley, would say only that the president would be making a “major statement” at 9 a.m. ET Sunday.

Newsweek confirms that the killin’ caliph has indeed been terminated with extreme prejudice. Let it be. May the killin’ caliph rot in hell.

Donald Trump to Address Nation as Reports Say ISIS Founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi Captured or Killed

The White House announced late Saturday that President Donald Trump will address the nation on Sunday after reports suggest ISIS founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was captured or killed by the United States.

:snip:

The problem is too many people confuse the Symptom and the Disease. We got rid of the Caliphate, Gonna put this in the Good Thing column...and fairly near the top. But the Ideology goes on. Lot of levels to this war, a big one is the ideology of all these groups....ie, Islamism.

The Comments at Brietbart are as always Soooo enlightening.

"The real ISIS founder is Hussein Obama...'

It seems to me (and I could be wrong) we have a lot of folks on our side who don't have the brains God gave an animal cracker.

UPDATED: Washington Post changes obituary to make Baghdadi 'austere religious scholar' instead of 'terrorist-in-chief'

Madison Dibble

October 27, 2019

The Washington Post changed the headline of its obituary of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi from "terrorist-in-chief" to describe him as an “austere religious scholar.”

U.S. forces killed Baghdadi Saturday after a successful raid on a compound in northern Syria.

While many celebrated the death of the serial rapist and murderer, the Washington Post left many confused by giving him the title of “austere religious scholar at the helm of the Islamic State.”

Report: Another Operation Kills ISIS Spokesperson al-Muhajir Day After ISIS Leader's Death

Bronson Stocking

Oct 27, 2019 4:45 PM

In a new strike in Syria, the CIA has targeted Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir, the spokesperson for ISIS who is considered to have been ISIS Leader al Baghdadi's right-hand man. The news comes just one day after U.S. forces killed al Baghdadi in a top-secret raid, Newsweek is reporting

(Via Newsweek)

Syrian Democratic Forces commander Mazloum Abdi, also known as Mazloum Kobane, also reported on the news Sunday.

"Continuing the previous operation, terrorist Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir, the right-hand man of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and an ISIS spokesman, was targeted in the village of Ayn al-Bayda, near Jarablus, in direct coordination between SDF intelligence and the U.S. military," Kobane said.

Muhajir was named ISIS spokesperson in 2016 after his predecessor, Abu Mohammad al-Adnani, was killed in a U.S. airstrike, also in Aleppo. Unlike Baghdadi and Adnani, who were known to be Iraqi and Syrian nationals, respectively, and were openly active in Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Muhajir's identity was publicly unknown, though his nickname?—meaning "emigrant"?—suggested he may be a foreigner.

The anonymous militant has offered occasional sermons released via audio messages, and was most recently heard in March, breaking nearly six months of silence as the group's final strongholds in eastern Syria collapsed. Less than a week after his latest message, Trump claimed victory over ISIS.

Trump Pays Tribute to Military K9s: ‘Beautiful Dog’ Injured in al-Baghdadi Raid

Trump also paid tribute during his remarks to a brave and heroic canine that took part in the operation that killed the terrorist.

“A beautiful dog, a talented dog, was injured and brought back,” Trump said.

At press time, neither Trump nor the Pentagon have released any other details on the canine soldier, including his or her overall health status or what role they played in finding al-Baghdadi.:snip:

Reporter's Notebook: Covering the elusive al-Baghdadi and his reign of terror for years - Greg Palkot/Fox News

News of the death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi by U.S. Special Operations Forces on Sunday was for me, as it was for many, of real interest. My teams and I have been some of the few who have seen his and his terror group’s handiwork, first-hand.

We visited sprawling refugee camps in Iraq, filling up from the waves of terror and displacement ISIS unleashed on the northern part of the country. Cute kids, not knowing of the horror and death happening around them, having fun and playing games with us.

We saw the handful of Christian towns there especially targeted by al-Baghdadi and ISIS. Crosses and churches destroyed. A target range in place of a courtyard of reflection. Graffiti scrawled across the face of the Savior in paintings.:snip:

(Snip) We also had a horrible view of the damage from al-Baghdadi and his group of terror thugs in countries far from the blood-stained sand of the Mideast. We walked among the overturned Paris café tables, shot up and ransacked by terrorists fighting for the same twisted principles...(Snip)

At The End Of The Day Its the Islamist/Salfist/Khomeinist ideology that is the enemy.

Media bias is palpable. They constantly rag on Trump and others for presenting ideas "without evidence" but then run these absurd unproven claims as if there is any merit to them. Gone are the days of thorough journalism and fact gathering and now we just have media double standards, fake news, and media lies that favor anti-trump and often leftist world views.

A Better Obituary, and a Useful Reminder

The London Times is a liberal and virulently anti-Trump newspaper. But its obituary of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi stands in sharp contrast to the ridiculous product of the Washington Post, which we and pretty much everyone else have ridiculed. The London Times obituary is a good reminder of how evil al-Baghdadi was. It begins:

The catalogue of car bombs, shooting and suicide attacks wreaked over recent years in the name of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) includes the Bataclan theatre massacre in Paris, the shooting of 38 western tourists on a beach in Tunisia, the blowing up of a Russian airliner over Sinai and the Easter Day bombings in Sri Lanka this year in which 259 people died — not to mention dozens of attacks across the Middle East, many of which killed scores of people although they often received scant attention in the West.

In Britain Isis is thought to have been responsible for the attack in March 2017 when a car mowed down people on Westminster Bridge before its driver stabbed to death a police officer outside the Palace of Westminster; a suicide bombing at the end of Ariana Grande’s concert at Manchester Arena in May 2017 in which 22 people were killed; and a van being driven into crowds on London Bridge in June 2017 after which three men emerged and stabbed people in nearby bars and restaurants.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was the founder and inspiration of Isis, and he directed or claimed responsibility for most of the recent massacres that have brought the scourge of terrorism to the heart of western Europe. It is estimated that his victims have numbered more than 8,300 since the group started its murderous campaign in 2013.
