Valin
Deutsche Welle Oct 19 2019 Tens of thousands of Kurds and people supporting them rallied across Germany on Saturday amid a crescendo of criticism against Turkey's military offensive in northeast Syria. In the western German city Cologne, around 15,000 people waving a sea of Kurdish and leftist flags marched peacefully in the rain shouting slogans against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and in support of the Syrian Kurdish YPG fighters battling NATO's second-largest army and a hodgepodge of Turkish-backed rebel proxies. Organizers estimated 50,000 people participated in rallies in cities across Germany, including in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Berlin and Stuttgart, in the latest protests across the country since the start of the Turkish military operation on October 9. Valin
Meanwhile........................... Syrian Army beats back Turkish forces near strategic border city Oct. 19 2019 BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – The Turkish-backed militants launched a surprise attack on the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses near the Syrian-Turkish border today in a bid to advance to the Tal Tamr District of Al-Hasakah. Led by the so-called “Syrian National Army”, the Turkish-backed militants attempted to crack the Syrian Army’s lines at northwestern Tal Tamr, despite the fact they are supposed to be adhering to a ceasefire in this border region. However, the Turkish-backed militants would eventually fall short of their plan to capture the town of Ahras, as the Syrian Arab Army was able to swiftly repel the attempted advance by these forces loyal to Ankara.
