Valin
Is the Women’s March Melting Down? (Snip) The Women’s March leaders have often dismissed their critics as right wing or driven by racism, but over the past two months their fiercest challengers have come from within their own shop—with women of color, and their own local organizers, often leading the pack. As of this article’s publication, numerous state chapters have broken off from the national organization—notably Los Angeles, Houston, Washington, D.C., Alabama, Rhode Island, Georgia, and Illinois. Mercy Morganfield, a longtime activist and daughter of blues legend Muddy Waters, has been one of the leading voices in calling for accountability from the co-chairs. For Morganfield, a former spokesperson for the Women’s March who also ran the D.C. branch, the various problems that people have had with the Women’s March—ideological, managerial, fiscal—should be seen as all of a piece. She recalled being startled earlier this year when Mallory—already a nationally recognized leader of the Women’s March—showed up at the Nation of Islam’s Saviours’ Day event. “When all of that went down, it was my last straw,” she told Tablet. “You are part of a national movement that is about the equality of women and you are sitting in the front row listening to a man say women belong in the kitchen and you’re nodding your head saying amen! I told them over and over again: It’s fine to be religious, but there is no place for religion in its radical forms inside of a national women’s movement with so many types of women. It spoke to their inexperience and inability to hold this at a national stage. That is judgment, and you can’t teach judgment.” (Snip)

Valin
Key Participant at Center of Women’s March Story Confirms Anti-Jewish Incident New information from two participants at the first Women’s March meeting contradicts statement by current co-chair and corroborates a ‘contentious conversation’ about race and Jewishness took place Leah McSweeney and Jacob Siegel Dec. 13 2018 On Dec. 10, Tablet published an article about the Women’s March. The piece opened with a description of the first-ever meeting of the nascent organization, during which—according to multiple sources who spoke with Tablet about the exchange–two of its current co-chairs were said to have directed anti-Jewish statements at Vanessa Wruble, one of the other women present. Reached by Tablet today, Wruble confirmed the account as described in the original story. *Snip)
Valin
Women’s March Washington will dissolve in protest of national co-chairs connections to Louis Farrakhan John Sexton Dec. 18 2018 The Women’s March organization co-chaired by Linda Sarsour, Tamika Mallory, Carmen Perez, and Bob Bland took another hit last week. A Washington state chapter announced it would be dissolving to protest the co-chair’s connections to Louis Farrakhan. From the Spokesman-Review: (Snip) The dissolution of the Washington chapter isn’t the only sign of dissatisfaction with the current co-chairs. The Los Angeles chapter has a statement on its front page distancing itself from Women’s March Inc. It reads in part: (Snip) At this point, many people of influence have said the co-chairs should go. But they are pointedly ignoring those calls at present. Given the sizeable amount of money the group has raised in the past, they can probably coast for quite a while. Ultimately, the Women’s March is their ticket. They have nowhere else to go. ____________________________________________________________________ From the Comments.....and Very Well Said! "Welcome to the party, pal. Conservatives have been saying from the get that the “Women’s March” is shot through with anti-Semitic vermin. Better late than never, I guess."
