Another smidgen of IRS corruption

Theres nothing like the truth to erode the credibility of Americas chief executive. Remember when President Obama told Bill OReilly during his Super Bowl interview There is not a smidgen of corruption, referring to the IRS?

Not only does it appear there might be a smidgen of corruption, there is apparently a steaming pile of incompetence as well. According to a report by the Associated Press, the Internal Revenue Service has paid more than $2.8 million in bonuses to employees with recent disciplinary problems, including $1 million to workers who owed back taxes. More than 2,800 workers got bonuses despite facing a disciplinary action in the previous year, including 1,150 who owed back taxes. A report by J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration indicates the bonuses were awarded from October 2010 through December 2012. George also uncovered the IRS targeting of conservative groups for which he was viciously attacked by liberal progressives.

Georges report said the bonus program doesnt violate federal regulations, but its inconsistent with the IRS mission to enforce tax laws. Other examples of misconduct by workers getting bonuses included misusing government credit cards for travel, drug use, violent threats and fraudulently claiming unemployment benefits.

The IRS should at least re-write their bonus guidelines to make a minimum requirement to be current on taxes. I'd much prefer to see a rule that to be employed by the Government you must be current on your taxes.

At the VERY least.

Not to justify this...(which I do not), but the larger problem is the tax code is to large...to complicated, and no one really knows what is in the damn thing.

“The tax code is a monstrosity and there’s only one thing to do with it. Scrap it, kill it, drive a stake through its heart, bury it and hope it never rises again to terrorize the American people.”

Steve Forbes

How Many Pages Long Is the U.S. Income Tax Code in 2013?

According to the CCH Standard Federal Tax Reporter, as of 2013, it now takes 73,954 regular 8-1/2" x 11" sheets of paper to explain the complexity of the U.S. federal tax code!

Now it is said, ignorance of the law is no excuse, ok...fine but almost 74,000 pages. How are you and I suppose to obey a law that big?
