The pro-life cause has done well this year.

For the first time since the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade in 1973, states enacted more than 100 abortion restrictions combined; this year, states enacted 106 abortion restrictions as of Sept. 17, according to the Guttmacher Institute. This topped the previous record set in 2011 when states enacted 89 new abortion restrictions.

Abortion has been illegal after six weeks of pregnancy in Texas since September, more than 30 municipalities across the country have outlawed abortion, and a Supreme Court with a 6-3 Republican majority heard the oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in early December. The case involves a 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi from 2018 that never went into effect.

While this year has seen positive developments, next year could be even better.

Poll analyzer FiveThirtyEight asks for abortion stories, gets overwhelming pro-life responses

Madeleine Hubbard

December 28, 2021

Polling analysis website FiveThirtyEight asked women to share their abortion experiences, and received an overwhelming number of pro-life responses on Twitter.

On Christmas Day, FiveThirtyEight posted the request on Twitter. "Do you have an abortion story? We want to hear from you," the outlet wrote, including a link to the website where women can fill out a Google form about their abortion.

The outlet states there are fewer abortion "clinics and more restrictions. And now it seems likely that the Supreme Court will limit the right to abortion even further. As we document the impact of these shifts, we want to include the voices of people who have had abortions in the U.S."

Many people gave pro-life responses and even March for Life highlighted the tweet with the caption, "You have to read these responses! Story after story on how #ChoosingLife brought joy, love, and empowerment to countless families."
