A RENEWED, INTENSIFIED CRISIS AT THE BORDER. The Twitter feed of Fox News reporter Bill Melugin has been an extraordinary place for the last few days. Melugin has spent a lot of time reporting from the U.S.-Mexico border, and recently he began telling readers about a surge in illegal crossers at the international bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

The crossers are coming by the thousands, Melugin reported . "Per source, the number of migrants waiting to be processed has now swelled to approximately 8,200," Melugin tweeted Thursday morning. "It was 4,000 yesterday AM. Doubled in one day. Border Patrol overwhelmed, and I'm told the situation is 'out of control.'" :snip:

Biden’s amnesty will only make border crisis worse

More than 200,000 migrants were detained for illegal entry in August, roughly the same number as in July. Of those 200,000, just 44% were returned to Mexico under Title 42’s contagion containment authority. That means for the second month in a row, over 100,000 migrants were released by the Biden administration into the United States to go wherever they want.

Supposedly, these migrants will show up in court to pursue an asylum defense against deportation. But less than 15% of migrants who apply for asylum after illegally crossing the southern border are ever granted the status. That means the other 85% are left free to roam the country even though they have no lawful business here.:snip:

‘Never’ before: 1.85 million illegal border crossings projected, 10,000 in one camp

Illegal border crossings, sparking a new humanitarian crisis just inside the Texas-Mexico line, are set to break the all-time record as President Joe Biden and his administration continue to turn a blind eye to the migrant chaos.

The latest projection is 1.85 million illegal border apprehensions for 2021, busting the previous record of 1.643 million in 2000.:snip:

Media coverage of border mayhem drops 94% under Biden

The nation is suffering through its worst border crossing crisis in 20 years and top Homeland Security officials are heading for the hills but the national media have gone AWOL on the issue as President Joe Biden has tried to steer attention to other topics.

A new Media Research Center analysis shows that as the crisis has peaked to over 200,000 crossings last month, coverage by the Big Three networks has crashed 94%.:snip:

Byron York's Daily Memo: Disaster in Del Rio

DISASTER IN DEL RIO. Remember when the Biden administration said the surge of illegal crossers at the U.S.-Mexico border, which gathered steam in February, March, April, and May, would abate when hot weather arrived? "We've dealt with this before," White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on March 26. "It is often seasonal."

Then, of course, the hot weather came — and so did even more illegal border crossers. June, July, and August saw record numbers of illegal crossers drawn by administration policies that make it likely that they will be allowed to stay in the United States.:snip:

Haitian Camp Crisis Brings Chaos to Two Small Cities on Texas-Mexico Border

DEL RIO, Texas — The crisis unfolding at a makeshift camp of nearly 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants under the Del Rio International Bridge has a devastating impact on the local community of Del Rio, Texas. Although mostly out of the public eye due to the remote location of the camp, residents are feeling the impact in the small Texas town. The closure of ports of entry leading to Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico, forced many local businesses in Del Rio to operate with fewer employees.:snip:

So how did 15,000 Haitians suddenly find their way to Del Rio, Texas?

:snip:

Mexico was the one who did it. Turns out Joe Biden promised them some things and based on the available information, apparently never delivered. Mexico's response to that was comparable to that of the underpaid wedding photographer who deleted a camera full of wedding photos after the callous client denied her a bathroom or meal break after a multi-hour shift. They had been penning up thousands of illegal Haitian migrants on their southern border in the town of Tapachula from entering the U.S. and opened the floodgates, all to teach Joe Biden a lesson about messing with them.

So much for Joe Biden's vaunted 'diplomacy is back' claim -- he can't even manage the U.S. Diplomacy 101 task of managing relations with our nearest neighbor, Mexico. Biden had been touted in the press for his supposed foreign policy expertise but he's beyond incompetent of this, managing to severely alienate both France and Mexico, and sure enough, Mexico has already bit back. :snip:
