When Drew and Marlene Proctor left their Jersey Shore, Pa., home to take their three-week trip across the back roads of the country for their honeymoon, they relished different sightings all along their journey.

But one thing remained constant no matter what state, city, town or village they passed through, Drew said, “and that was the amount of Trump signs we saw everywhere.”

“And I mean everywhere,” he added for emphasis. “They were in wealthy suburban neighborhoods, blue-collar middle class towns. You would see them in farm fields and painted on the sides of businesses. Most of them were either large flags, although plenty of them were hand-painted homemade signs too.”

In total, the couple traveled through 12 states and logged more than 5,000 miles on their sojourn. I spoke with both Proctors last month as they sat outside a diner, enjoying a burger near Mt. Rushmore in Keystone, SD. As if on cue, a motorcyclist drove by with a Trump flag billowing out the back.

The Narrative Speaks. You Will pay attention...or else.

Donald Trump Is Doing His Comeback All Wrong

All but erased from public life, he is making a mistake by announcing a presidential run so early.

Now Donald Trump knows what it feels like to be a one-hit wonder. Paralleling the career trajectories of Question Mark and the Mysterians, Norman Greenbaum, Soft Cell, Chumbawamba and Foster the People, Trump rose rapidly to the top, lingering there on the strength of one melody, before his fall and replacement.

This loss of mojo humiliated Trump, and he has finally settled on a comeback formula. And it’s high time he has. After having lost his spot in the public eye, his visibility on cable news has crashed, Google searches of his name have melted away, and Facebook, YouTube and Twitter made him persona non grata. Meanwhile, that new social media operation his aide Jason Miller promised in March would “become the hottest ticket” has turned into vaporware. The Trump blog that did appear was so unpopular Trump shuttered it in less than a month.

The comeback plan Trump has teed up is nowhere as circuitous as the one Richard Nixon constructed in 1966, which had him going on the hustings for Republican candidates and collecting political debts. It’s not even as subtle as deliberately disappearing and coming back with a new image, the way Nixon did. Instead, according to POLITICO’s Meridith McGraw and Marc Caputo, its about reanimating the original Trump for President and doubling the now-customary 18-month run for the presidency into a three-year footslog. He’s running!

It would be a mistake for Trump to continue to confuse a world of his own imagining for the actual arena where the games of policy and politics are played. Following these modest proposals, he could renew his occupancy on Page One and cement a claim on the lead position on the cable newscasts. His counterpunches to Biden’s head and torso would land with greater damage. His already fantastic fundraising efforts would really take wing. And the attention he preens for would be his. The one-hit wonder would have a shot at topping the charts again.

You would think by this time "Our Betters" would Get It....but you'd be wrong.

For better or worse The Republican Party on Sept. 12 2021 is a VERY different party than Sept. 21 2011.

Gotta wheel out the left's favorite boogey man - Nixon.

Never mind that Trump left office because of a (very questionable) election loss, not disgraceful behavior. They have to try and tie him of someone they consider the most malfeasant President ever.

Richard Nixon. A Brilliant politician. I have read, you could mention a congressional district, and off the top of his head he could tell you everything you wanted to know about that district. On Foreign Affairs Deep Thinker, Reagan would consult with him quite often (on the QT). He also did something no politician did. Ran for President, win the nomination, Lose the race, Come back and win. I don't believe anyone else has ever done that. He and JFK were good friends, they contributed to each others campaigns.

He was the Donald Trump of his day, From his 1st win (1947) till the day he died, He was Hated by The Media. As for Watergate, nothing was done that was not SOP for that day.The only difference was he was Richard Nixon.

By today's standard he's be a RINO, by the standards of the 50's-60's pretty right wing.
